text does not show up in pokemon essentials

I started using Pokémon essentials for the first time around 5 days ago. when I go to test my game and try to use the menu or anything, no text appears whatsoever so I cant do things such as map connections. has anyone else had this problem and how would I fix it? I appreciate the help.

yeah, I did. that's what is so weird about it

I've been hearing about this problem a lot with various fangames. The solution I usually hear is that a windows update removed the fonts, and they needed to be reinstalled.
