I know this may be something obscure but this error happens when a trainer tries to use Mindblown, the signature move of Blacephalon. It works fine in wild battles, it's just an AI issue.
Thanks for reporting this.

I added this to my wip game, and then I crashed when picking up a Pokeball.
This isn't a Gen 8 Project error because you literally haven't installed the Project.

Yes I have?
If you did, then your error message would contain [Generation 8 Project v1.0.2] like this.

Try to install the project properly this time.

As soon as you fix the instructions on how to install it, I will! Because I followed them exactly! And it worked, I was able to make one of the starters Rowlet and it actually worked! And then it crashed when I picked up a pokeball, when it hadn't been crashing from that before I installed this!

What's more likely:
A) You made a mistake on one of the steps of the installation.
B) You installed it perfectly, and everybody else who's downloaded it are experiencing one communal fluke where this very obvious bug somehow doesn't affect them.

Also, making Rowlet a starter doesn't prove anything, because Gen 7 species already come included with base Essentials. If you made Grookey your starter or something, you'd have more ground to stand on.

Okay, but.. where did the Rowlet sprite come from? Because sprites for Gen 7 don't come included in base Essentials.

This error happened when I used meteor beam, when gaining a sp atk boost.

same with clangorous soul, it ups the attack, def and speed correctly. The error message pops when it tries to up sp atk.

Ctrl + Shift + F and search for ":SPATK" and ":SPDEF", and change each instance to :SPECIAL_ATTACK and :SPECIAL_DEFENSE, respectively. There are several areas in the script that may not have been updated to v19's new naming conventions.

Thank you for reporting this. It's a minor typo in the Mimicry ability and will be fixed in the next update.
