Made Using:
RPGMaker XP and Pokemon Essentials

Team:
Tomix9tomix/CloonieKing -Co developer, eventer, mapper, writer and making everything come together
Papurikagakusyu - Co-developer, artist, writer, and helping around everywhere
NuclearOmega - Helped and offered advice for the Ultra Beast's stats and move pools.

Notes:
Just some personal notes, this game was made in a little over a month for the 6th Relic Castle Game Jam. It was made by me and my partner Papurika, this was my first time having someone else to help develop the game as a whole, not just an artist but someone who made the game with me. It was a lot of fun. And while this game took a lot out of me as I raced for the finish line, I think it was worth it.

This is a very different type of game compared to what I've made before... Although to be honest none of my games are that similar. So I hope you enjoy this new kind of game from me. Furthermore the story is a direct continuation of Sun & Moon, so working with cannon plot was very new for me. I learnt a lot about the Pokemon world.

To my family, my friends at college, and my friends at Relic Castle, thank you so much. I wouldn't have been able to make this without your support. Please enjoy!

Hey, I'm enjoying the game so far. I ran into a pretty major bug though:
I went back to Hollowcombe to get some repels from the mart during Anabel's mission but now the game thinks I'm looker so I can't continue the mission! Good thing I saved earlier.

Thank you for the report! I'm glad to hear you are enjoying it so far, let me know your final thoughts as well please! <3

And with this report version 1.3 is out. It fixes this bug along with some minor bugs. Hopefully it is the last update? Can't be too sure though. I hope all of you are enjoying the game!

Hey thanks for the fixing the bug! I just finished the game and really loved it! I have some thoughts below:
  • The overall story and concept was awesome. You captured the 3 personalities really well, great writing!
  • Switching between the 3 characters kept the game fresh and interesting, also really loved switching between Anabel and Looker.
  • The wild pokemon weren't low leveled I could instantly add them to my team without grinding (also thanks to exp share!)
  • The difficulty was quite balanced. I did black out a couple of times but it wasn't too bad. It was pretty easy towards the end though.
  • I love how you made it so you could interact with almost everything! (with a lot of funny dialogue)
I only have a couple of critiques:
  • I thought there were slightly too many trainer battles, especially during Anabel's mission.
  • Also the foggy forest maze thingy during Anabel's mission was a little eh, especially that last cheeky part that took me forever to get, I thought I was going crazy haha.
  • Although I liked interacting with objects, the switch finding was a bit of a chore. Mostly because I thought there was only one event per bookshelf and it took me a while to realize the significance of the 'mirrors' lol.
Overall, I had a great time playing your game. It was a really fun experience, thank you!

Edit: Forgot to report a bug, you can walk on the black tiles here

Hello! Thank you for the feedback, it is always great getting feedback on the puzzle parts of the game because I won't know how they look like to a fresh mind myself. Just a few questions about it though:

For the foggy maze thing had you figured out that you needed to follow the flowers to get to the next area? There should've been a boy mentioning that all these flowers were weird. Hopefully it was obvious enough. I'm just wondering because if you figured this out it would've meant less trainers for Anabel's path. There are lots of trainers but for the most part, most of them should be optional.

And about the mirror puzzle, there should've been a piece of paper as soon as you entered the room. Did you read it? It explains that to solve the puzzle you need to search for differences across the two rooms, so you shouldn't have had to have tried interacting with everything to solve it, it was supposed to have the player compare each room and interact with the tile that was different.

And while I'm at it, just out of curiosity which ending did you get? I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)

Ah oops, looks like I'm really bad at reading. I didn't see the boy mentioning the flowers and I also didn't pay too much attention to the piece of paper, my bad! D:

I chose to fight the ultra boost leaders at the end!

When I was playing the second mission I went back to the move relearner and when I went back to complete the mission the game treats it like locker's first mission

Which version are you playing on? It should've been fixed in a more recent version so hopefully if you saved before hand you can just download the update and then go to the relearner.

If you saved after the game broke feel free to send me your save in a private message or something and i can fix it. If you dont know how to send a save file i can also explain that to you in a private message. Thank you for reporting!

I've downloaded v1.2 a few days ago I haven't saved after it got stuck, I have been playing on joiplay so I don't know if it's the game's fault or the player
I'll try downloading the latest version
edit: the latest version is working properly thanks

Hi I just completed this game today, I played it over a span of 3 days. Definitely a fun game and I can tell a lot went into it. Playing as multiple characters and switching between them was a great feature and overall done really well, no character is really left out. And you picked some pretty cool characters to play as as well. Also showing gen 7 some love is cool. So now into some a lot of spoiler comments/criticisms/feedbackeronis...
-There was a point that confused me, so you play as Looker and then Anabel and both get captured at the end of the missions. But then you play as Nanu and someone says Anabel got kidnapped on that one route leading to Po Town from Sun/Moon, but I thought she was captured in the forest? So how could that girl have seen her get kidnapped? Did I miss something?
- Why does Anabel take Persian and then its just gone for the rest of the game? That also confused me.
-The puzzle where you switch between Looker and Anabel to escape was creative and interesting but also was kind of confusing. I couldn't see what the switches did when I hit them. I know that's kind of the point but to me it felt awkward, sorry I wish I could offer a way to make it better.
-The forest sort of Lost Woods style puzzle was good, I got the flower hint and having you go back down at the end was a good final bit to figure out I thought.
-There were some tiles around the water on the Looker mission route in the beginning that seemed off, like they should connect as one cohesive border (sorry I didn't get a picture). Just a visual thing.
-There was an error when I encountered a cherrim in the forest it couldn't change forms when it used sunny day.
-The music, particularly the gen 7 remixes in the gen 3 style really fit well and are excellent.
-I really loved the route to Po Town and Malie City recreated in the Gen 3 style, it was nostalgic and charming.
-I ended up picking to fight the Team Ultra Boost leader people in the end since they almost destroyed the world and I would feel a lot safer having them contained ya know. Also they kidnapped us and endangered those children in the forest. And their dumb plan was gonna destroy the whole universe. I mean if that's not a good reason to take people in I don't know what is. I'm kind of interested what the other outcome is tho.
-The two new ultra beasts were cool, good job on those. They were very weird, just how they should be.
-I just want to emphasize again that playing as multiple players through a story like this was really great, Its almost like 3 playthroughs at once. And getting to fight Anabel at the end with the Pokemon YOU caught when playing as her with YOUR movesets. That's pretty cool.
So yeah great job overall it was a pleasure playing, thanks!

Im so glad to hear you enjoyed it! And im glad that you noticed and enjoyed the music remixes, not many people have commented on them yet.

Just to address one of the plot details you were confused about.
They are very similar names and both purple haired girls so i totally get this mistake but it was Acerola, the elite 4 memeber, who was kidnapped near Po Town, not Anabel. But yeah very easy mistake, probably not great having 2 characters so similar in design and name in the game
Also if you saved before the end and have time i recommend you try getting the other ending. It is quite interesting....

Ohhh yeah I knew I was being dumb yeah I got them mixed up. Unfortunately the game saved at the end so it just goes right to the end screen when I boot it up again. I want to try out other gamejam entries so unless someone does a playthrough with the other ending I'll probably miss out on it for now at least.

Hey! So, I finished the game, and I wanted to give you my thoughts!

I thought the idea was super cool! I definitely was wowed by the cool new UB designs, that was so so so cool. My favorite part of this game for sure was the gameplay, though. I think you managed to make the game in a way so that there was always something interesting happening. I love how the maps were never too linear, with multiple routes and such. The Looker/Anabel puzzle was SUPER cool, such a creative idea. Another cool thing was the way that the world interacted with the UBs. With the children following Anabel's UB, and the trainers rushing to catch Looker's UB, it made the area feel more alive.

In terms of feedback, there are some things. The main thing that sticks out to me is the story. I think that the idea of sympathizing with Team Ultra Boost, in the fact that they just wanted to go home. I think that idea could be expanded on with a few storytelling techniques. For example, you could introduce two minor grunts, who could be siblings, who constantly talk about their parents. You could even cut to the two siblings with their parents for emotional affect. Additionally, the climax didn't really feel... climax-y. I think it'd be cool if the two leaders had possession of the two UBs, and you fight them in the middle of an Ultra Wormhole or something like that. I understand completely that it was made within a month, so you were crunched for stuff like this, but it's still something to consider in the future.

Looker; Manectric, Floatzel, Noibat, UB
Anabel: Mismagius, Weavile, Snorlax, Combusken, UB
Nanu: Krokorok, Sableye, Pancham, Meowth

I do get what you mean about the climax and it being a bit hard to sympathise with team ultra boost with how it is laid out. I'm not trying to excuse myself but since you kind of brought it up i wanted to share some little things about the game. Idk if you played both endings but there is for sure a decided BAD ending. I wanted to include what happens in this ending because it makes an interesting connection to cannon Pokemon. And then it would feel bad having a morally ambiguous choice at the end to then go "nope, too bad, this is the bad ending". So part of my wanted to make sure that it was clear at the end that you really shouldn't team with Ultra Boost

Just a small detail, once again doesnt excuse your critic but i find it kind of interesting so i wanted to share. If you do not catch the Ultra Beasts, the scene after will play out slightly differently and then depending on which ultra beast it was, Inaba or Drosera will have a different team where they use that Ultra Beast. So there are kind of 4 different versions of final battles against them. Anyway yeah just a cool little detail.

Once again thank you so much for playing! I hope you enjoyed it :)

I see! This insight is very very useful, and it addresses my second critique very well honestly. The first critique still stands, at least in my opinion, but still a great game nonetheless.

Heyo, I have 1.4 downloaded and I ran into the same error about going back and being reset as Looker (but looking like Anabel). I restarted from my last save point and am just gonna go in prepared but I want to give you the heads up for sure.
