Fixing the two frame partner bug?

For some reason, when I add an NPC as a dependent event, only the first two frames of movement animation show in each of the directions. Sometimes the animation is normal at first but then it quickly changes. Recently I was working on a new event and after I repositioned the sprite a bit in the actual graphic the bug started happening, but I don't know if that was the cause.

I know I fixed this issue at one point, but I didn't mark down the code I edited for it and this was well over a year ago... There were other threads about this issue and how to fix it... but I can't find them now. I tried comparing some of the scripts from my game with unedited copies of Essentials to find what I'd edited, but all of my guesses at what script section it might have been in were wrong and I've made so many changes to my own game that this is really hard to do. :/

I know Marin was the one who pointed me to the thread with the fix in it (and it likely was a PokeCommunity thread), but that's all I remember. :[
