Bugs fixed in 1.01:
- Black screen issue at the beginning
- An NPC moving around when I told him to sit down
- I changed Charizard sprite so it doesn't look like it's kissing its trainer (eww)
- Removed some events to reduce lag
- No, you can't walk on the door anymore
- Removed some items from PokeMart for easier selection
- Fixed looping music in one area
- Small typo

Sorry for the inconvenience! Someone must have placed flex tape over the screen to prevent further damage.

Hi! The game looks amazing and I'm enjoying it so far!

I was playing and my game crashed when I talked to the artist at the lake. This is the screenshot:
I have a full six team and I don't know why it happens.

EDIT:

I just finished the first arc and I really loved the game and its story. I really hope to see more of it! :D Good work team!

That happened because a bug with pokemon with variant forms (in this case, Vivillon). Until we release the next update, 1.02 (the save file won't be affected), don't battle the trainer just yet.

Other than that, the thing we would like to fix are tile errors, typos, and moving-through-walls bugs. There have been comments about the... unexpected difficulty spike. Some are fair, but one in particular is what we are experimenting with. So accept that you are getting bamboozled. You see, Zoroark isn't the only one capable of making illusion in this game.

Thanks for the replay! I did not see more bugs.

About the difficulty spike, at first I was surprised, but with strategy I was able to win at my first attempt (no spoilers! promise)

I will wait for more arcs!

Thanks to @Mashirosakura @Axe2611 @WolfShadowWhisper and @DanaLionheart for the feedback and bug report!
Version 1.02 is now available. This is to prevent crash by encountering a certain pokemon.

- Tree bugs
- Added a trap (and fixed it)
- Now you can challenge the artist!
- Added an item ball
- Changed moveset of a Pokemon
- Less difficulty spike (except one)
- More typo fix (they are hard to spot, so let us know if you find one!)

Love the game! One issue I've found: I was at the route F-Z pokemon center and the popup that identifies who's talking started to show up cut off with only the top border visible. I restarted the game and it still happens.

Also in the dark type gym I went to pick up a pokeball, the screen says "whoah, it's alive!" and then I got a script error and the fame shut down. Hope it helps!

I haven't played all the way through yet, but I really like the dialogue between Zak and the Misdreavus.

I do wish you'd had somebody proofread it (and the rest of the text), although this style works pretty well for Zak because I expect him to have an interesting way of speaking to humans (and I think this was intentional?)

If you're talking about typos and grammar mistakes, then mostly it's my fault >_> But yeah, we really can use some help on proofreading.

Zak's speech was bad at the beginning. Over time he gets better, but he plays it safe by speaking only short replies and simple sentences. After all, his primary language is Poke-nese, which is conveniently the same for every Pokemon (lel).

We're glad to hear you liked it! Honestly, this might be one rare example where 1) the protagonist talks, and 2) the pokemon talks. A very risky move, but it seems to be working. Having their personality and goal contrast to each other also helps. We plan to have more Pokemon character, too. You know it's really disappointing most games put spotlight on shallow human characters and treat Pokemon character like a cardboard. So we'd like to hear if there's any Pokemon you want to see more!

How easy is it to extract all the dialogue in the game into a single file? I'm studying how to write as a hobby, although so far I'm much better at editing than coming up with my own words; and I am the person who does all the proofreading at my job. So potentially I might be able to help with this side of things.

EDIT: Feel free to PM me if you're interested.

I'm happy to hear that it was deliberate, it came across, which shows the quality of your writing IMO.
And you're right, I think that their chemistry is really good because of the contrast! :)

For now, the dev team is taking a break. The next arc will start its development at the end of this semester, but we are open for new recruits who want to apply sooner! We might put up a detailed recruitment thread sometime later. For now, just contact me and show an example of your work.

(We're really interested in recruiting musician and coder, though.)

How easy is it to extract all the dialogue in the game into a single file?

I heard there's a way to extract all event lines. Haven't tried it, though. Since we want to revamp and add more content to the game, proofreader isn't necessary for now. Still, thanks for your kind offer! (We can use some help in writing NPCs if you're interested in that)

Oh yes, another update for bug fixes coming soon.

EDIT: 1.03 is out, thanks to NurseEthi for streaming the game and giving direct feedback for us.

I liked this game a lot. It's one I'm excited to see you and the rest of your team make more of, and that's coming from someone who isn't usually into games where the protagonist speaks, or you play as a Pokémon.

The start was a bit rough in my opinion. Some games suffer from an overabundance of exposition during the start of the game, but I feel like this one could use a little bit more. I'm not sure why the player gets a Pokegear, especially since the region map isn't implemented. I felt like starting the player off with one Pokémon and then giving the trainers on the first route multiple Pokemon was a bit much, as a player I'd prefer to be eased into the route a bit. The Electrode in the Gym was a bit weird.

Those are my nitpicks, though. Aside from those and wishing the game was longer, I think it's a really enjoyable experience. I really liked the presentation of it; the maps were nice, good tile choices, the mystery dungeon portraits were nice. I especially like being able to go back to the area with the cave in the beginning and battling those trainers and wild Pokemon. That's a nice addition that I feel would have been overlooked in most other games. I like being able to go behind the trees, even if I completely forgot about it haha.

I really like the fake out with the gym leader levels. I totally grinded for those too! That was clever.

Overall? Great game. You should be proud of it!
