Relic Castle

So, I have had to start my game over and over for awhile now, due to the game being corrupted. I have scoured the web trying to figure out an exact cause to why files get corrupted.

Yes, I have made backups. They also somehow get corrupted. I really don't have a clue how. I had 2 back-ups at the ready today, and I got the same error when trying to open them.

When saving and closing RPG Maker XP, I always click 'Save Project' and then 'Close Project.' Most of the time, this works fine. When I am done working on my project at the end of the night, and I turn my computer off, this is when the issues happen.

Today, all my PBS files got corrupted and displayed the word 'NUL' repeating. Every single one.
Sometimes, the scripts will get corrupted and will just cease to exist. Other times, it is the game file itself, with an 'Unexpected File Format Error.'

I created this thread so it can be exactly pinpointed HOW to save and close RPG Maker XP, safely turn your computer off, etc. I would like for this to avoid happening to myself and anyone else again.

So if anyone has any suggestions, could you please leave them? I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong.
