I am trying to make a Crystal Onix and Steelix in my Pokemon game (Pokemon Legend Red). I don't have any plans on using the original Onix and Steelix sprites, so I didn't go through the motions of making a new form. Instead I just replaced the original (EBS) sprites with my new ones (and edit there PBS). Crystal Onix works just fine (front, back sprite, and icon) when I got to testing Steelix it was a different story. The Steelix icon works fine, but the back sprite and front sprite do not. The back and front sprite switch in between the original sprite and the new (crystal) one. This happens when I get it in debug mode, when I battle it, and when set an event to obtain it. I can't seem to find a pattern to when I get which sprite. I don't even know what sprite it would be pulling from because I overwrote all of the original Steelix files with my new (crystal) Steelix files.
I did live-stream making the Steelix on YouTube today, I haven't done anything with the Steelix flies after the live-stream, minus test them out. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT SELF PROMOTION this is for the purpose of helping me find out what I did wrong and how I could fix it, this is not for the purpose of letting my video get views). I work on the Steelix from 3:18 to 3:22
I then come back to it at 3:25 to 3:26
Again at 3:42 to 3:44
Also at 3:45 to 3:49
When I got back to working on the game later that night I found my Steelix problem. I added that gives the player a Steelix (opposed to getting it from debug mode), this came to the same result. I then also tried forcing a battle against it and trying to catch it with the same results. This has really been confusing me, thank you guys for any help in advance.------------------------Upon further investigation I have found that female Steelix has a female form. That female for has not been re-textured. I can't believe I didn't know that Steelix had a male and female form.
