Just updating for posterity since I figured it out, I accidentally deleted this Very Important Line in Pokemon_ShadowPokemon in pbInitPokemon while editing how heart gauges work. __shadow__pbInitPokemon(*arg) # Called into battle So the lesson is: don't do that!

It's in PField_Visuals (in Essentials v18), line 643 and 645. A good trick for finding stuff like this is Ctrl+Shift+F. That searches for what you type in, like Ctrl+F, but it searches all script sections for it! I've been LIVIN' since I was told about this.

Hey! I'm having a problem where when I use an HM, it won't play the HM animation. It also says that the trainer is doing the move, not the pokemon. I don't think this is a problem with my scripts, since I reverted my scripts to default Essentials and it still won't play the animation, same thing...
