Thanks for the follow-up, Epic! My event works perfectly, and I've gotten better at making other events, too.
Yeah, that was it. I knew there was a way to do it - I've done it before. I just couldn't remember.
that way if they're not facing up, you can set it up that they move down 2 spaces instead
@SpartaLazor To fix it from moving the player moving up when they interact with it from above is to put it in a conditional branch that's set up with "if player is facing up"
Thanks, you rock! And I understand how it's working, too, so I can say I've learned something today. I'm planning on it really just being a one-way passage, so that should work fine.
http://i.imgur.com/LxPYJtr.png That's what I did. Seemed to work fine. Only thing that really needs to be fixed is that if the player interacts with the gate from above, they'll still move up two spaces.
I'm actually already using the fence tile as the event's graphic. It's getting it to disappear and reappear that I'm having trouble with. I tried making a Self Switch turn on, and having a second event page with no graphic, but I couldn't figure out how to then make the Player move and then have the graphic reappear.
That's not a very detailed version of what to do... but the shoutbox is a pretty limited place.
Piece of cake, actually. What you need to do is rather than having the gate be a tile, have it be an event that uses the tileset graphics. When the player presses the action button, have it change graphics to none, have the player move forward, and then change the gate's graphic back to the gate tile.
Hi, Shoutbox! I'm hoping to get some eventing help that's basic enough to not merit its own thread... I'm trying to set up a fence tile that functions as a gate, where the Action button makes the fence disappear, then the player automatically walks up two tiles to pass through, then the fence reappears. Any advice? Thanks!
